Job Overview

This role focuses on designing and implementing urban water infrastructure projects in Rushinga, Zimbabwe. The position integrates technical expertise with community engagement to address water access, sanitation, and flood mitigation challenges. Candidates will collaborate with municipal authorities, NGOs, and local stakeholders to deliver scalable water management solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee the implementation of urban water supply and drainage systems.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for water infrastructure projects, including cost-benefit analyses.
  • Develop strategies for flood risk reduction and stormwater management.
  • Engage with local communities to assess water needs and incorporate feedback into project designs.
  • Ensure compliance with national water management regulations and environmental standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, project proposals, and budget plans for stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in CAD software and GIS mapping tools.
  • Experience in urban water system modeling (e.g., SWMM, InfoWorks).
  • Strong project management and stakeholder coordination abilities.
  • Knowledge of Zimbabwean water policy and climate resilience frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for complex infrastructure challenges.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Shona is an advantage.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or Urban Planning.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Water Resource Management or Sustainable Infrastructure is preferred.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in urban water infrastructure planning or related fields.
  • Proven track record in managing water-related projects in African urban contexts.

Salary

150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
