Job Overview:IFAD is seeking a Sustainable Urban Agriculture Specialist to work on a project aimed at promoting sustainable urban agriculture in Mutare, Zimbabwe. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable urban agriculture initiatives, working with local stakeholders, and providing technical assistance to farmers and other stakeholders. The position will be based in Mutare, Zimbabwe and will require frequent travel to rural areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sustainable urban agriculture initiatives in Mutare, Zimbabwe
- Work with local stakeholders, including farmers, government officials, and other development partners
- Provide technical assistance to farmers and other stakeholders on sustainable urban agriculture practices
- Conduct research and analysis on sustainable urban agriculture practices and their impact on rural poverty
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of sustainable urban agriculture initiatives
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, urban planning, or related field
- Strong knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices and their impact on rural poverty
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team and build partnerships with local stakeholders
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field
Experience:5-7 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, urban planning, or related field
