Job Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sustainable Urban Agriculture Specialist to join our team in Chiredzi, Zimbabwe. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of sustainable urban agriculture projects in Zimbabwe, and will work closely with government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector to promote sustainable agriculture and rural development.
The Sustainable Urban Agriculture Specialist will be responsible for a range of tasks, including project design and implementation, capacity building, and advocacy. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of sustainable agriculture practices, and will be able to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, farmers, and civil society organizations.
The Sustainable Urban Agriculture Specialist will be based in Chiredzi, Zimbabwe, and will be required to travel regularly to other parts of the country to support project implementation and capacity building.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of sustainable urban agriculture projects in Zimbabwe
- Work closely with government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector to promote sustainable agriculture and rural development
- Provide technical assistance and capacity building to farmers, government officials, and civil society organizations
- Advocate for policies and practices that support sustainable agriculture and rural development
- Travel regularly to other parts of the country to support project implementation and capacity building
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture and rural development
- Strong understanding of sustainable agriculture practices and principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Fluency in English and Shona
