Job Overview
This role focuses on developing next-generation smart textiles that combine traditional Zimbabwean weaving techniques with modern sensor integration. The position requires collaboration with R&D teams to prototype fabrics for healthcare, sportswear, and climate-responsive apparel. Candidates will work at the forefront of Zimbabwe’s textile innovation sector, leveraging local cotton resources and international technology partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype smart textile products with integrated biometric sensors
- Optimize production processes for conductive fiber weaving and sensor embedding
- Collaborate with software engineers to develop fabric-based health monitoring systems
- Ensure compliance with international smart textile safety and quality standards
- Conduct material testing for durability, conductivity, and comfort parameters
Required Skills
- Expertise in smart textile production techniques
- Proficiency in CAD software for fabric design
- Knowledge of biometric sensor integration
- Experience with textile sustainability certifications
- Strong analytical skills for material testing
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. Advanced certification in smart textile technologies is advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years in textile manufacturing with at least 1 year in smart fabric development. Experience in both traditional weaving and modern textile technology is required.
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and technical expertise.
