Job Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Petroleum Reservoir Engineer to join our technical subsurface team in Monrovia. This critical role is responsible for characterizing reservoir behavior, predicting future production profiles, and optimizing field development plans to maximize the economic life of our assets. The successful candidate will utilize advanced numerical simulation tools to model complex fluid dynamics and pressure depletion scenarios. This position requires a deep understanding of petrophysical properties, well performance, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex 3D numerical reservoir models to simulate fluid flow and pressure changes.
- Perform detailed uncertainty analysis and sensitivity studies to mitigate subsurface risks.
- Optimize well placement, completion designs, and production rates to maximize recovery factors.
- Collaborate with geologists and drilling engineers to integrate seismic and petrophysical data into reservoir models.
- Evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and unconventional development projects.
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior reservoir engineers and technicians.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in reservoir simulation software such as Eclipse, Petrel, or CMG.
- Expertise in material balance calculations and decline curve analysis (DCA).
- Strong mathematical modeling and statistical analysis capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of fluid thermodynamics and rock-fluid interactions.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex technical data to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams.
Education
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Geosciences is required. A PhD in a related field is highly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a strong academic background in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
Experience
Applicants must possess a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in reservoir engineering, specifically within the upstream oil and gas sector.
