Job Overview
This position is ideal for a creative professional passionate about using digital platforms to tell compelling stories. The Digital Storytelling Specialist will design and execute multimedia narratives that highlight social, cultural, and environmental issues in Zimbabwe. The role emphasizes collaboration with local communities, journalists, and digital teams to produce content for web, social media, and broadcast platforms. Candidates should have a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in digital storytelling techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and produce digital stories using video, audio, and interactive formats.
- Collaborate with local journalists and community leaders to identify story ideas.
- Utilize editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Audition) to create polished content.
- Optimize stories for SEO and audience engagement on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter.
- Conduct workshops to train local teams in digital storytelling best practices.
Required Skills
- Expertise in digital storytelling, including video production and editing.
- Proficiency in social media content creation and analytics.
- Strong understanding of Zimbabwean cultural and social contexts.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in English and Shona/Ndebele is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, or related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Digital Media or Film Production is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years in digital content creation, preferably in a media or nonprofit setting.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end storytelling projects.
Salary
150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
