GROUP LEGAL ADVISOR – FINANCIAL SERVICES

Position Overview

CBZ Holdings Limited is seeking an experienced Group Legal Advisor to provide strategic legal leadership across its financial services portfolio. The successful candidate will oversee legal risk management, regulatory compliance, contract negotiations, litigation management, corporate governance, and advisory services supporting business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel to executive management and board committees.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
  • Advise on banking, insurance, investment, and financial regulatory matters.
  • Lead corporate governance initiatives across subsidiaries.
  • Manage litigation, dispute resolution, and external legal counsel relationships.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with financial sector legislation and licensing requirements.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and strategic partnerships.
  • Oversee legal due diligence activities.
  • Develop internal legal policies and compliance frameworks.
  • Conduct legal risk assessments and mitigation planning.
  • Deliver legal awareness and governance training programs.
  • Represent the organization before regulators and government authorities.
  • Guide investigations involving compliance and ethical concerns.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB).
  • Admission as a Legal Practitioner in Zimbabwe or equivalent jurisdiction.
  • Master’s Degree in Corporate Law, Commercial Law, or Financial Regulation is an advantage.
  • Certification in Corporate Governance or Compliance preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of post-qualification legal experience.
  • At least 5 years in banking, insurance, capital markets, or financial services.
  • Experience advising executive leadership and boards.
  • Proven track record in commercial contract management.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance frameworks and regulatory compliance.
