Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Digital Forestry Systems Specialist to join our team in Nyanga, Zimbabwe. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing digital forestry systems to support our conservation efforts in the region. This is a unique opportunity to work with a leading international organization and contribute to the conservation of Zimbabwe’s natural resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement digital forestry systems to support conservation efforts
- Collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to promote sustainable forest management
- Conduct field research and data collection to inform conservation decisions
- Develop and maintain relationships with local government agencies and NGOs
- Provide technical assistance and training to local communities on digital forestry systems
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in digital forestry systems development and implementation
- Strong technical skills in programming languages such as Python and R
- Experience with GIS and remote sensing technologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
