Job Overview

We are seeking a Digital Forestry Systems Specialist to join our team in Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing digital forestry systems to support our conservation efforts in Zimbabwe. This will involve working closely with our forestry team to design and implement digital solutions to monitor and manage forest resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement digital forestry systems to support conservation efforts in Zimbabwe
  • Work closely with the forestry team to design and implement digital solutions to monitor and manage forest resources
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for digital innovation in forestry
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities
  • Provide training and technical assistance to staff and partners on digital forestry systems

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in digital forestry systems or related field
  • Strong technical skills in programming languages, such as Python or R
  • Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
