Job Overview
The Cloud Solutions Architect will design, implement, and optimize cloud solutions for AWS’s diverse client base in Zimbabwe and the broader Southern Africa region. This role involves collaborating with sales, engineering, and product teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and cost‑effective cloud architectures. Key Responsibilities
- Design end‑to‑end cloud architectures that meet performance, security, and cost objectives.
- Engage with clients to gather requirements, conduct workshops, and present solution proposals.
- Develop reference architectures, proof‑of‑concepts, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with AWS engineering teams to integrate new services and features.
- Provide guidance on migration strategies from on‑premises to AWS cloud.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, data sovereignty, and industry standards.
- Mentor junior architects and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, etc.).
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
- Proficiency in infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on customer success.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing and deploying cloud solutions on AWS. Prior experience in consulting or client‑facing roles, especially within the African market, will be valued. Demonstrated success in large‑scale migrations and cost‑optimization projects is essential.
Salary
