Job Overview
We are seeking an Eco-Tourism Development Specialist to design and implement sustainable tourism initiatives in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. This role will focus on creating eco-friendly travel experiences that align with global sustainability standards while promoting Zimbabwe’s natural and cultural heritage.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage eco-tourism projects that integrate environmental conservation with community engagement.
- Conduct feasibility studies for new sustainable tourism ventures in Victoria Falls.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders, including conservation organizations and community leaders, to ensure ethical tourism practices.
- Monitor and report on the environmental and social impact of tourism activities.
- Design educational programs for travelers to promote awareness of Zimbabwe’s ecosystems and cultural heritage.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in tourism project management with a focus on sustainability.
- Strong understanding of environmental conservation principles and practices.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in using GIS tools for mapping eco-tourism routes and resources.
- Creative problem-solving abilities to address challenges in remote or sensitive ecosystems.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Advanced certification in Sustainable Tourism or Environmental Impact Assessment is a plus.
Experience
- 3-5 years of professional experience in tourism development, preferably in eco-tourism or conservation projects.
- Experience working in multicultural or international environments.
Salary
150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
