Key Job Responsibilities
Payroll Processing & Salary Administration
The Assistant Registrar, Payroll will:
- Ensure timeous and accurate payroll processing for university staff.
- Process salaries, allowances, benefits, pensions, deductions, garnishees, and third-party payments.
- Administer PAYE, NSSA contributions, statutory deductions, and payroll compliance requirements.
- Update payroll records to reflect department transfers, promotions, salary adjustments, pension changes, and tax exemptions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date salary administration records.
Payroll Compliance & Financial Controls
- Verify all payroll-related payments to ensure zero financial leakages and compliance with labour regulations.
- Ensure payroll systems remain compliant with tax laws, labour laws, and internal university policies.
- Reconcile statutory levy returns and payroll records.
- Manage payroll audits and liaise with internal and external auditors.
- Administer payroll system back-ups to minimize operational risks.

Reporting & Employee Support
- Prepare periodic payroll reports, salary summaries, and financial documentation.

Education Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in:

- Membership of a recognized Professional Board is desirable.
Experience Requirements
Candidates should have:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Payroll Administration or a similar payroll role.
- Strong understanding of salary processing, payroll systems, pension administration, tax calculations, statutory deductions, and payroll audits.
- Experience handling NSSA Portal, SDL, PAYE calculations, and compliance reporting.
- Contemporary knowledge of payroll statutes, labour laws, financial regulations, and payroll policies.
