Job Overview
The Agricultural Technology Officer will spearhead the integration of digital tools and precision farming techniques to optimize sugarcane cultivation. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about bridging agriculture with technology to drive efficiency and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and manage agricultural technology solutions for crop monitoring and yield analysis.
- Collaborate with farmers and technical teams to adopt data-driven farming practices.
- Conduct field trials for new technologies, such as IoT sensors and drone-based analytics.
- Prepare reports on agricultural performance metrics and recommend improvements.
- Train stakeholders on the use of digital tools for farm management.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in agricultural software and data analysis tools (e.g., GIS, farm management systems).
- Strong understanding of precision agriculture and sustainable farming practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot technical and operational challenges.
- Fluency in English and local languages (Shona/Ndebele) is an advantage.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification in Agricultural Technology or Data Science is preferred.
Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in agricultural technology or agribusiness operations.
- Proven track record in implementing technology solutions in farming environments.
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
