Job Overview

The Logistics Operations Manager will lead the daily operations of DHL’s freight forwarding hub in Beitbridge. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will be responsible for overseeing inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, optimizing warehouse processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end‑to‑end logistics operations, including freight consolidation, customs clearance, and last‑mile delivery.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 20+ logistics coordinators, warehouse operatives, and drivers.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time delivery, cost per shipment, and inventory accuracy, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Zimbabwean customs laws, safety regulations, and DHL’s internal policies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and local authorities.
  • Drive process improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Oversee the implementation of technology solutions, including warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).

Required Skills

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in cross‑border freight operations and familiarity with Zimbabwean customs processes will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 300,000 to SSP 500,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
