Job Overview
This role is central to AfriSam’s mission to drive urban development in Beitbridge, Zimbabwe. The Urban Development and Infrastructure Planner will lead initiatives to design, coordinate, and implement infrastructure projects that enhance urban resilience, improve public spaces, and support economic growth. The position requires a strategic thinker with expertise in balancing developmental goals with environmental and community considerations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute urban planning strategies aligned with national and local development frameworks.
- Coordinate with municipal authorities, stakeholders, and construction teams to ensure project compliance and efficiency.
- Conduct feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments for proposed infrastructure projects.
- Design sustainable urban solutions, including transportation networks, utilities, and public facilities.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality standards to ensure successful delivery.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in urban planning, infrastructure development, or related fields.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex project challenges.
- Proficiency in CAD, GIS, or urban modeling software.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Knowledge of Zimbabwean urban development policies and regulations.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., AICP) is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years in urban development, infrastructure planning, or construction management.
- Experience in public-private partnership (PPP) projects is advantageous.
Salary
250,000 – 350,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
