Job Overview
NACZ is seeking a passionate Theatre Arts Educator to design and deliver interactive theatre workshops in Gokwe, Zimbabwe. This role focuses on empowering youth and community members through performance-based learning, storytelling, and collaborative theatre projects. The position requires creativity, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to advancing arts education in underserved regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement theatre education programs for schools, community centers, and cultural festivals.
- Conduct workshops on acting, scriptwriting, and stage production for participants aged 12–35.
- Collaborate with local artists to integrate traditional Zimbabwean storytelling techniques into modern theatre formats.
- Organize and lead community theatre productions that address social issues such as gender equality and environmental conservation.
- Document and evaluate program impact through surveys and performance metrics.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in theatre education or community-based arts programming.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in workshop facilitation and curriculum design.
- Knowledge of Zimbabwean cultural traditions and their integration into contemporary theatre.
- Fluency in Shona or Ndebele is a distinct advantage.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts, Education, or related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Theatre Education or Cultural Studies is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years in arts education, community theatre, or cultural outreach programs.
- Experience working in rural or semi-urban Zimbabwean communities is highly desirable.
Salary
150,000 SSP – 250,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience.
