Job Overview

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Petroleum Drilling Engineer to join our specialized drilling operations team in Monrovia. This critical role is designed for a professional who possesses deep technical knowledge of well design, drilling fluids, and casing programs, specifically within offshore and deepwater environments. As we expand our exploration footprint, this position will play a pivotal role in planning and executing complex drilling campaigns that adhere to the highest international safety standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of a well, from initial conceptual design through to completion and decommissioning. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and optimization of complex drilling programs, including well trajectories, casing designs, and bit selection.
• Supervise on-site drilling operations to ensure strict adherence to technical specifications and safety protocols.
• Manage drilling fluid programs and evaluate their effectiveness in maintaining wellbore stability.
• Conduct detailed technical analysis of drilling data to identify trends and optimize future well designs.
• Collaborate with the procurement department to ensure all drilling equipment and consumables meet rigorous quality standards.
• Oversee the implementation of pressure control systems and well integrity management programs.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior drilling engineers and field technicians.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and cost estimates for drilling campaigns for executive review.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in drilling engineering software such as Landmark or similar industry-standard tools.
• In-depth understanding of well control procedures and blowout preventer (BOP) operations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex geological and geophysical data.
• Exceptional project management capabilities, including budget oversight and resource allocation.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders and international crews.
• Proven ability to lead teams in high-pressure, remote, or offshore environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of international drilling regulations and environmental compliance standards.

Education

Candidates must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering or Drilling Technology is highly preferred and will be considered a significant advantage during the selection process.

Experience

A minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in petroleum drilling operations is required. Applicants must demonstrate a proven track record of managing large-scale drilling projects, preferably in deepwater or high-pressure/high-temperature (HPHT) environments. Experience working within international oil and gas corporations is essential to ensure alignment with global operational standards.

Salary

The offered salary for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 750,000 SSP per annum, depending on the candidate’s level of expertise, specialized certifications, and previous experience in the sector.
