Job Description

The Senior DR-TB Advisor will provide high-level technical and operational leadership to strengthen national DR-TB prevention and management programs in Zimbabwe.

The successful candidate will support national policy development, program coordination, decentralized care models, operational research, stakeholder engagement, and performance monitoring to improve TB detection, treatment outcomes, and patient retention.

Key Responsibilities

DR-TB Policy & Strategic Support

  • Support development and implementation of national DR-TB strategies and operational plans.

  • Support national and provincial DR-TB clinical case management systems.

  • Improve adherence support, patient retention, and treatment completion strategies.
  • Conduct DR-TB cohort reviews to evaluate program performance.

Training, Mentorship & Capacity Building

  • Support development of training materials, technical tools, and PMDT job aids.
  • Mentor clinical teams managing DR-TB patients across facilities.
  • Build technical capacity for healthcare workers and district teams.
  • Support dissemination of updated TB guidelines and reporting systems.

Monitoring, Reporting & Data Use

  • Analyze PMDT program data to identify gaps and improve outcomes.
  • Document best practices, innovations, and lessons learned.
  • Provide monthly technical reports to the U.S. Department of State and project leadership.
  • Monitor implementation progress and program effectiveness.

Research & Partner Coordination

  • Support operational research and DR-TB evaluations.
  • Facilitate translation of research findings into policy and practical interventions.
  • Coordinate with Ministry of Health, donors, technical working groups, and implementing partners.
  • Represent the National TB Program at stakeholder meetings and forums.

Education Requirements

Required Qualification

  • A Medical Degree such as:
