Job Overview
The Senior Credit Risk Analyst will lead the evaluation, monitoring, and mitigation of credit risk for the bank’s loan portfolio in the Murewa region. Reporting to the Head of Credit Risk Management, the analyst will develop risk models, conduct thorough credit assessments, and provide strategic recommendations to senior management. This position is critical for ensuring that ZB Bank maintains a healthy loan book, complies with regulatory standards, and supports the growth of creditworthy customers. The role involves close collaboration with relationship managers, underwriting teams, and the finance department to align risk appetite with business objectives.
In addition to day‑to‑day credit analysis, the Senior Credit Risk Analyst will spearhead initiatives to enhance the bank’s risk governance framework, implement best practices in credit scoring, and contribute to the development of policies that reflect the evolving economic environment in Zimbabwe. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving data‑centric insights that support the bank’s strategic goals and reinforce its position as a trusted financial institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive credit risk assessments for new and existing loan proposals, including financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and industry risk evaluation.
- Develop and maintain quantitative risk models and scoring systems that align with ZB Bank’s risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify emerging risk trends, and prepare detailed risk reports for senior management and the board of directors.
- Collaborate with relationship managers to structure credit facilities that balance client needs with prudent risk mitigation.
- Lead the preparation of stress‑testing scenarios and impact analyses to anticipate potential adverse economic conditions.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior analysts and credit officers on advanced risk assessment techniques.
- Ensure compliance with the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s credit risk guidelines and internal policies.
- Participate in cross‑functional projects aimed at enhancing the bank’s digital credit underwriting platforms.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in financial modeling and statistical analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of credit risk assessment methodologies, Basel III standards, and local regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with risk management software such as SAS, R, Python, or similar analytical tools.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex risk findings to non‑technical stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Leadership qualities with a proven track record of mentoring junior team members.
Education
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or CPA are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.
Experience
A minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in credit risk analysis within a banking or financial services environment is required. Prior experience in developing risk models, conducting stress tests, and managing a diversified loan portfolio will be highly valued.
Salary
ZB Bank offers a competitive salary range of SSP 250,000 to SSP 400,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
