Job Overview

The Network Operations Manager will lead the planning, implementation, and optimization of Econet’s mobile and data network infrastructure in the Bulawayo region. Reporting to the Head of Network Operations, the role involves overseeing a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring network reliability, performance, and compliance with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of radio access network (RAN) and core network elements in Bulawayo.
  • Monitor network performance metrics, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to achieve SLA targets.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and resource plans for network projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and timely delivery of equipment and services.
  • Mentor and develop a high‑performing team of network engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Drive network optimization initiatives, including capacity planning, traffic engineering, and technology upgrades.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management on network health, project status, and strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are adhered to during all field operations.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of LTE, 5G, and core network technologies.
  • Proficiency in network planning tools (e.g., Atoll, Planet) and performance monitoring platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective leadership and team management skills.
  • Project management experience with a track record of delivering complex telecom projects on time and within budget.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or vendor‑specific qualifications (e.g., Nokia, Ericsson) are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in telecom network operations, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience with large‑scale network roll‑outs and optimization projects in emerging markets is highly valued.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 350,000 to SSP 500,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based incentives and annual bonuses are also part of the remuneration package.
