Job Overview

The Head of Procurement will lead the end‑to‑end sourcing function for Shoprite Holdings’ Bulawayo operations. Reporting to the Regional Supply Chain Director, you will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that ensure product availability, cost efficiency and compliance with corporate standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies aligned with corporate goals and market dynamics.
• Lead a team of senior buyers and procurement specialists, providing coaching, performance management and career development.
• Negotiate contracts, terms and conditions with local and international suppliers to achieve optimal pricing, quality and service levels.
• Collaborate with finance to manage budgets, forecast spend, and monitor cost‑saving initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with Shoprite’s ethical sourcing policies, local regulations and international trade standards.
• Drive supplier performance improvement programs, including scorecards, audits and joint business planning.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as disruptions, price volatility and regulatory changes.
• Lead sustainability projects, promoting responsible sourcing, waste reduction and local supplier development.
• Prepare regular reports for senior leadership on procurement performance, savings, and market trends.
• Support store operations by ensuring timely delivery of merchandise and maintaining optimal inventory levels.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of ten years of progressive procurement experience, with at least five years in a senior leadership role within the retail sector. Salary
