Job Title

Dental Therapist
Location: Harare (Kuwadzana 2 Area)
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose

The Dental Therapist will provide preventive, promotive, and basic restorative dental care services within an established clinic. The role involves working under the supervision of a Dental Surgeon, ensuring high standards in patient care, infection control, and oral health education.

This position is ideal for professionals experienced in community dentistry, clinical oral care, and patient-focused dental services.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver preventive dental care, including oral examinations, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments
• Provide oral health education and patient awareness programs
• Perform basic restorative procedures and tooth extractions (within scope of practice)
• Take and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays)
• Manage minor dental emergencies and refer complex cases appropriately
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation
• Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols
• Assist in inventory and stock management of dental supplies
• Participate in community outreach and dental health programmes
• Comply with clinic policies, professional standards, and healthcare regulations

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of oral healthcare, dental procedures, and patient management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to provide patient-centred care with empathy and professionalism
• Understanding of infection control, hygiene standards, and clinical safety
• Good organizational and record-keeping skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based clinical environment

Qualifications & Experience

• Recognized qualification in Dental Therapy or Oral Health Care
• Minimum 3 years of working experience in a dental clinic or healthcare setting
• Valid registration with relevant health or dental regulatory body (if required)
• Experience in preventive dentistry and restorative procedures is essential
