Job Overview

IUCN Zimbabwe is seeking a Climate Adaptation Project Manager to lead initiatives that build resilience to climate change in vulnerable communities across Muzarabani. This role will focus on designing and implementing projects that integrate climate adaptation strategies with sustainable land use practices. The successful candidate will collaborate with local stakeholders, government agencies, and international partners to ensure measurable environmental and social outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage climate adaptation projects aligned with national and international sustainability goals
• Conduct community assessments to identify climate vulnerabilities and co-create adaptation strategies
• Coordinate with local governments and NGOs to implement land restoration and water conservation programs
• Monitor project impact through data collection and reporting to donors and stakeholders
• Provide technical guidance on climate-smart agriculture and ecosystem-based adaptation techniques

Required Skills

• Proven experience in climate resilience project management
• Strong understanding of Zimbabwe’s environmental policies and climate challenges
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication skills
• Proficiency in GIS mapping and climate data analysis tools
• Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams in remote field locations

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Climate Studies, Geography, or related field. Advanced degree (Master’s) preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in climate adaptation, environmental management, or sustainable development projects. Prior work in Zimbabwe or Southern Africa is an advantage.

Salary

2,500,000 – 3,500,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
