Job Overview
This role is part of Veolia’s initiative to establish Zimbabwe as a regional hub for circular economy innovation. The Circular Economy Specialist will design and implement strategies to minimize waste, optimize resource efficiency, and promote sustainable practices across industrial and municipal sectors. The position requires collaboration with government agencies, private sector partners, and local communities to develop scalable solutions aligned with global sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop circular economy frameworks for waste-to-resource projects (e.g., organic waste composting, e-waste recycling).
- Conduct feasibility studies for industrial symbiosis initiatives and material recovery facilities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design closed-loop systems for water, energy, and material flows.
- Monitor and report on environmental impact metrics, including carbon footprint reduction and resource efficiency gains.
- Provide technical expertise for compliance with national environmental regulations and international sustainability standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in circular economy project design and implementation.
- Strong analytical skills for lifecycle assessment and resource mapping.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-sector collaboration abilities.
- Proficiency in environmental impact assessment tools (e.g., ISO 14001, LCA software).
- Knowledge of Zimbabwe’s environmental policies and circular economy best practices.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Circular Economy or Environmental Management preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years in environmental management, sustainability consulting, or waste management roles.
- Experience in Zimbabwe or Southern African markets is a significant advantage.
Salary
150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
