Job Overview
The 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) Planner will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and deploying next‑generation mobile networks in Zimbabwe. Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive 5G RAN deployment plans, including site selection, capacity forecasting, and technology selection.
- Conduct RF simulations, drive‑test analyses, and coverage assessments to validate network designs.
- Coordinate with local authorities and regulatory bodies to secure permits and ensure compliance with Zimbabwean telecommunications standards.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—RF, Core, Transmission, and Operations—to align planning assumptions and timelines.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, cost estimates, and project schedules for senior management review.
- Monitor ongoing network performance, identify optimization opportunities, and propose enhancements post‑deployment.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior planners and support knowledge transfer within the Murehwa office.
Required Skills
- Deep understanding of 4G LTE and 5G NR radio access technologies, including spectrum bands used in Zimbabwe.
- Proficiency with planning tools such as Atoll, Planet, or iBwave.
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret RF data, traffic models, and KPI metrics.
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and report preparation.
- Project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple sites and deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local terrain, climate considerations, and infrastructure constraints in rural Zimbabwe.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in 5G planning, RF engineering, or project management (e.g., PMP) are highly desirable.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in radio access network planning, with proven involvement in at least one major 5G rollout project. Experience working with African telecom operators or in emerging markets will be considered an advantage.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances are also part of the total rewards structure.
