Job Overview

The Food Safety Manager will lead Nestlé Zimbabwe’s food safety program at the Plumtree manufacturing plant, ensuring compliance with local regulations, international standards such as ISO 22000, and Nestlé’s own Global Food Safety Framework. Reporting to the Head of Quality Assurance, the role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring food safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and driving a culture of preventive safety across all production lines. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with production, engineering, supply chain, and regulatory teams to safeguard product integrity and protect consumer health. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) in line with ISO 22000, HACCP, and Nestlé Global Food Safety standards.
• Lead internal and external food safety audits, ensuring timely corrective actions and compliance with Zimbabwean food regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and critical control point (HACCP) verification across all product lines.
• Provide training and mentorship to production staff on food safety best practices, fostering a proactive safety culture.
• Collaborate with R&D, procurement, and supply chain teams to evaluate raw material safety and supplier compliance.
• Monitor and analyze food safety performance metrics, preparing detailed reports for senior management.
• Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and certification agencies.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, ISO 22000, and GFSI standards.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
• Proven leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and food safety management software.

Education

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as Certified Food Safety Professional (CFSP) or HACCP Master Trainer are highly desirable.

Experience

A minimum of five years’ experience in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance within a large‑scale food manufacturing environment is required. Prior experience in a multinational corporation and exposure to international food safety standards will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The annual salary range for this role is SSP 350,000 to SSP 500,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives may be offered in line with Nestlé’s global compensation framework.
