Job Overview

The Renewable Energy Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in the planning, design, and execution of solar and wind projects throughout Zimbabwe. Reporting to the Project Management Office, the engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and engineering of solar PV and wind turbine installations, including site assessments, layout planning, and equipment selection.
• Coordinate with procurement, construction, and operations teams to ensure seamless project execution from inception to commissioning.
• Develop and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculation reports in compliance with local regulations and international standards.
• Perform performance modeling and financial analysis to optimize project viability and return on investment.
• Manage interface with local authorities, utility companies, and community representatives to secure permits and ensure stakeholder alignment.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and budget integrity.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases, including troubleshooting and on‑site problem solving.
• Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including technical reports, as‑built records, and operation manuals.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of solar PV and wind energy technologies, including system design, grid integration, and performance optimization.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, PVSyst, WindPro, and MATLAB.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach.
• Effective communication skills for interfacing with multidisciplinary teams, regulators, and community stakeholders.
• Project management expertise, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.

Education

Experience
