Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hydraulic Systems Design Engineer to join our specialized R&D team in Ganta, Liberia. This role is critical to our mission of developing next-generation heavy machinery capable of operating in the most demanding environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end design, analysis, and testing of complex hydraulic circuits used in excavators, bulldozers, and loaders. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including structural engineers and software developers, to integrate advanced hydraulic controls with digital monitoring systems. This position requires a deep understanding of fluid dynamics, pressure control, and component selection to ensure maximum machine uptime and energy efficiency. As we continue to expand our presence in West Africa, this role offers a unique opportunity to influence the design of equipment that will shape the landscape of Liberia’s industrial sector. This is a premier career opportunity in Liberia for an engineer who thrives on solving complex mechanical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex hydraulic circuits for heavy-duty construction and mining equipment.
- Perform detailed mathematical modeling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to validate system performance.
- Select appropriate hydraulic components, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and hoses, based on performance requirements.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are optimized for assembly and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct rigorous field testing and laboratory validation of hydraulic prototypes to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hydraulic failures in existing machine models.
- Develop technical documentation, including schematics, parts lists, and maintenance manuals.
- Stay updated on emerging hydraulic technologies and integrate sustainable practices into designs.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and hydraulic simulation tools (e.g., AMESim, MATLAB/Simulink).
- In-depth knowledge of fluid power principles, including pressure, flow, and viscosity dynamics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex mechanical systems.
- Excellent technical writing skills for creating detailed engineering reports and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong project management skills to handle multiple design iterations simultaneously.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Power Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree with a specialization in hydraulic systems or fluid mechanics is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of direct experience in the design and development of hydraulic systems for heavy machinery. Proven experience in simulation-driven design and field testing in rugged environments is essential. Previous experience working within a global manufacturing organization is a significant advantage.
Salary
The offered salary for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 750,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience, qualifications, and performance during the interview process.
