Job Overview
This Sustainability Consultant role is part of EDF Renewables Zimbabwe’s initiative to expand its renewable energy footprint in Southern Africa. The position requires a strategic thinker with technical expertise in environmental sustainability to advise on project development, compliance, and community engagement. Candidates will support the company’s mission to reduce carbon emissions while creating long-term value for stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for new renewable energy projects.
- Develop sustainability strategies aligned with national and international regulations.
- Collaborate with local communities, governments, and NGOs to ensure project alignment with environmental goals.
- Monitor and report on the ecological performance of energy infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical guidance on waste management, biodiversity conservation, and carbon footprint reduction.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in environmental consulting or renewable energy sectors.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in sustainability software tools (e.g., GIS, LCA).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Knowledge of Zimbabwean environmental policies and international sustainability frameworks (e.g., ISO 14001).
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s Degree is a distinct advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, renewable energy project management, or corporate sustainability roles. Experience in Zimbabwe or other African markets is preferred.
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
