Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Hydrographic Surveyor to lead our marine surveying team in Buchanan. This role is critical for our expanding operations in the Liberian maritime sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing complex hydrographic survey projects, ensuring that all data collected meets international standards for nautical charting and seabed mapping. This position involves significant field work on survey vessels, as well as advanced office-based data processing and analysis. You will act as the technical lead, overseeing junior surveyors and ensuring that all equipment is calibrated and functioning at peak performance. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage large-scale hydrographic survey campaigns using Multibeam Echosounders (MBES) and Side Scan Sonar (SSS).
• Perform complex data processing and analysis using industry-standard software to produce high-quality bathymetric products.
• Supervise the deployment and maintenance of subsea sensors, including ADCPs and tide gauges.
• Ensure all survey activities comply with IHO (International Hydrographic Organization) standards.
• Develop detailed survey plans and methodologies for diverse maritime environments.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior survey technicians and vessel crew.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and data deliverables for clients and regulatory bodies.

Required Skills

• Expert proficiency in hydrographic data processing software such as CARIS or Teledyne PDS.
• Advanced knowledge of GNSS/GPS positioning and inertial navigation systems.
• Strong understanding of maritime law and international hydrographic standards.
• Exceptional mathematical and spatial reasoning abilities.
• Ability to work in challenging offshore environments and long durations at sea.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.

Education

A Master’s degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, Marine Geosciences, or a closely related engineering field is mandatory. A Bachelor’s degree with significant specialized experience may be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Experience

A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in hydrographic surveying is required. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of managing complex marine survey projects and leading technical teams in a maritime setting. Experience with offshore oil and gas or large-scale port infrastructure projects is highly desirable.

Salary

The offered salary for this position is between 450,000 and 650,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and technical expertise. This is a competitive package designed to attract top-tier talent in the field.
