Job Overview

The Senior Mine Geologist will lead the geological assessment and resource modeling for Gold Fields Zimbabwe’s new gold project in Mutoko. Reporting to the Head of Exploration, the role involves designing and executing exploration programs, interpreting geological data, and delivering high‑quality technical reports that guide mine planning and investment decisions. This position plays a pivotal role in translating complex geological information into actionable insights, ensuring that the project meets its production targets while adhering to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

• Design and supervise comprehensive exploration programs, including drilling, sampling, and geophysical surveys.

• Prepare detailed technical reports, resource estimates, and feasibility study inputs for senior management and investors.
• Collaborate with mining engineers to integrate geological models into mine design and scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with local mining regulations, environmental guidelines, and company safety standards.
• Mentor junior geologists and field staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mineral exploration.

Required Skills

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, or a closely related field is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CSP, PGeo) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, resource modeling, and geological reporting within the mining industry. Prior experience in gold projects and familiarity with the geological settings of Zimbabwe are preferred.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 600,000 to SSP 1,200,000 per month, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
