Job Overview

The Senior Hydrogeologist will play a pivotal role in our environmental assessment and water management division. This position is critical for our upcoming large-scale groundwater mapping and aquifer sustainability projects in the Magbala region. Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive groundwater modeling and aquifer characterization studies to ensure sustainable water extraction.
• Design and oversee the installation of monitoring wells and automated data collection systems.
• Perform detailed geochemical analysis to assess water quality and potential contamination risks.
• Collaborate with local government agencies to develop water management policies and regulatory frameworks.
• Supervise junior geologists and field technicians during complex site investigations.
• Prepare technical reports and scientific papers for international stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Integrate remote sensing data with field-based measurements to create predictive hydrological models.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in groundwater modeling software such as MODFLOW or FEFLOW.
• Expertise in interpreting geophysical survey data, including electrical resistivity tomography.
• Strong understanding of West African geological formations and hydrological cycles.
• Exceptional technical writing skills for producing high-level scientific documentation.
• Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in remote and challenging field environments.
• Advanced GIS (Geographic Information Systems) mapping and spatial analysis capabilities.

Education

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, or a closely related Earth Science discipline is required. A PhD with a focus on groundwater dynamics or contaminant transport is highly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a strong academic background in mathematical modeling and statistical analysis.

Experience

Applicants must possess a minimum of seven years of professional experience in hydrogeological investigations, preferably within the environmental consultancy or international development sectors. Proven experience in managing large-scale field operations and leading technical teams is essential. Salary
