Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Laboratory Microbiologist to lead our diagnostic microbiology unit in Buchanan. This critical role is essential for identifying infectious diseases, monitoring resistance patterns, and ensuring the highest standards of laboratory safety and accuracy. The successful candidate will oversee complex diagnostic procedures, manage laboratory personnel, and interpret intricate microbiological data to support clinical decision-making. This position is vital for our efforts to combat endemic diseases and improve patient outcomes through precise and timely diagnostics. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the daily operations of the microbiology laboratory to ensure high-quality diagnostic services.
- Perform advanced identification of bacterial, viral, and fungal pathogens using automated and manual techniques.
- Oversee antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) to guide effective clinical treatment protocols.
- Implement and maintain rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) programs.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including reagents, media, and specialized diagnostic equipment.
- Train and mentor junior laboratory technicians and staff on standardized operating procedures.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to interpret complex results and provide diagnostic guidance.
- Maintain meticulous records of all laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with international health standards.

Education
A Master of Science (MSc) in Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a closely related field is mandatory. A PhD in a specialized microbiological field is highly preferred. Candidates must hold valid professional certification for laboratory practice in Liberia.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory setting is required. Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a medical laboratory is essential. Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 45,000 SSP to 65,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and performance during the interview process.
