The Senior Mining Safety Inspector will play a critical role in our HSE department, ensuring that all mining, transport, and processing activities comply with both Liberian national regulations and international safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, unannounced safety audits and inspections of open-pit mining sites, haul roads, and processing facilities.
- Monitor compliance with all local environmental and occupational health and safety laws.
- Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and develop comprehensive prevention strategies.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for high-risk activities including blasting and heavy equipment operation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior safety officers and site supervisors.
- Analyze safety data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Coordinate with the environmental team to ensure mining activities minimize ecological impact.
- Facilitate safety training sessions and toolbox talks for diverse work crews.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all inspections, findings, and corrective actions taken.

- Expert knowledge of international mining safety standards (ISO 45001) and Liberian mining regulations.

Education

Experience
A minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in industrial safety, specifically within the mining or heavy construction sectors, is required. Proven experience in managing safety protocols for large-scale, remote operations is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a track record of successfully reducing Lost Time Injury Frequency Rates (LTIFR) and implementing effective safety management systems in complex environments. Experience working in West Africa or similar emerging markets is a plus.
Salary
