Job Overview
This role involves managing digital cultural assets through advanced metadata systems, overseeing 3D scanning projects, and developing interactive digital exhibits. The position requires collaboration with local communities to document traditional knowledge while ensuring compliance with UNESCO’s World Heritage standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage digital asset databases containing over 15,000 cultural artifacts
- Coordinate 3D scanning and photogrammetry projects for heritage sites
- Develop metadata standards for digital cultural collections
- Collaborate with local elders to document oral histories
- Create interactive digital exhibits for museums and online platforms
- Ensure compliance with UNESCO’s digital preservation protocols
Required Skills
- Proficiency in digital asset management systems (e.g., CollectiveAccess)
- Experience with 3D modeling software (Blender, SketchUp)
- Knowledge of metadata standards (Dublin Core, PREMIS)
- Strong understanding of cultural heritage preservation ethics
- Excellent community engagement and communication skills
- Basic coding skills (Python/JavaScript for metadata automation)
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Digital Archiving, Cultural Heritage Management, or related field. Master’s degree preferred but not required.
Experience
3-5 years in digital archiving, cultural heritage management, or museum curation. Experience with UNESCO projects or African cultural heritage preferred.
Salary
150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
