Job Overview
This role leads climate adaptation projects in rural Zimbabwe, focusing on drought mitigation, sustainable agriculture, and ecosystem restoration. The position requires collaboration with local communities, government agencies, and international donors to implement WWF’s 2030 Climate Resilience Strategy. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute climate resilience programs in partnership with local stakeholders
- Conduct vulnerability assessments for agricultural and natural ecosystems
- Develop community training modules on sustainable land management practices
- Monitor and report on project outcomes using GIS mapping tools
- Secure funding through grant proposals to international donors
Required Skills
- Expertise in climate risk analysis and adaptation planning
- Proven experience with stakeholder engagement in rural communities
- Proficiency in environmental impact assessment methodologies
- Strong project management skills with budget oversight capabilities
- Fluency in Shona or other local languages preferred
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geography, or related field
- Postgraduate qualification in Climate Change Management advantageous
Experience
- Minimum 3 years managing environmental projects in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Experience working with UN agencies or international NGOs preferred
Salary
250,000 – 400,000 SSP monthly, depending on experience and qualifications.
