Job Summary
The University is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Cook to oversee kitchen operations within the Accommodation and Catering Services Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for meal preparation, menu planning, food quality control, kitchen supervision, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and supervise the production of nutritious and balanced meals
- Coordinate canteen activities to meet institutional meal schedules
- Develop cost-effective menus that meet customer dietary needs and preferences
- Supervise food preparation and kitchen operations to ensure quality standards
- Monitor food hygiene, health, and safety procedures in the kitchen
- Manage food inventory, ordering, receiving, storage, and issuing of supplies
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff for efficient service delivery
- Ensure proper portion control and minimize food wastage
- Support catering services during conferences, events, and university functions
- Prepare shift schedules and supervise kitchen staff performance
- Maintain kitchen utensils, cooking equipment, and cleanliness standards
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the Head of Department

Education Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- Certificate in Professional Cookery or equivalent qualification
- Diploma in Catering or Hospitality Management will be an added advantage
- At least 5 Ordinary Level passes including English Language
- Class One Chef certification is required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience in a busy kitchen or catering environment
- Experience in institutional catering or hospitality operations is an added advantage
- Proven ability to supervise kitchen staff and maintain operational standards
